Potty training in CR4

Kristina and KJ started potty training this week and they are doing awesome!
Even if your child is not ready to start with potty training, invite her/him to use the potty at every diaper change.  This way they will get familiar with the process.
Here are some important tips:
Pull-ups are not helpful in the toilet learning process. The child never has the opportunity of feeling wet, as everything is warm and contained in a pull up. When a child wears underwear, the wet sensation is very different and the child will start to make the connection of needing to sit on the toilet. The process of toilet training takes time and each child progresses at his/her own pace.

CR 2: Today our children discovered…

The Wheel.

Ms. Adrienne, look!  We made a car!”

Can you believe that it really goes?  It’s not falling at all!”

The Lever.

Check this out– if I press this side of the red rod it lifts this other part up.”

The ecstasy of their discovery was palpable.  It really made me wonder if this was anything like what the original “aha” moment was like when these brilliant ideas first came to fruition.  Imagine what early man would have discovered if he had Sensorial materials at hand.  Would we this have increased the pace of technology at all?  Influenced the problem solving, building and innovation?

I wonder.

Furthermore, this is yet another case for the allowance of combining Sensorial materials at one rug.  If the children are grading the materials with respect and beauty, working with teamwork and grace, then the sky is the limit.

Best,

Ms. Adrienne

Friday 2~3: Early Release

Posted in blog | Leave a comment

Todos estan invitados!!! Everybody is invited!!!

It is with great excitement that I would like to extend an invitation to all the DGM community to go and see the Ballet Folclorico de Antioquia this Friday February 3rd at 8:00pm at the Scottsdale Center for the performing arts. In fact, I am taking the UE and MS school students to the 11:00 am performance. But it would be wonderful if other members of the DGM community could go and support this wonderful company too.

Inspired by the vibrant culture of its native Colombia, this vivacious young dance company has won widespread praise around the world, including at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing for its fiery, virtuoso performances of traditional Colombian folk music and dance.

I know how important it is for you to learn and discover other cultures and I would love for you to come and take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy this great show from my native COLOMBIA.

Hope to see you there!!!
Espero verlos allí!!!
