Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year in Classroom 1! I look forward to getting to know each of your children throughout our educational journey together. This year has been unlike any other, and the most valuable lesson we can instill in our children is that change is inevitable. Children strive on consistency and routine; however, everything can change in a moment, and that is ok. This decision to return to the classroom and return to a sense of normalcy takes a great deal of consideration, and I feel very privileged to be entrusted with your child’s education and care.
I first fell in love with the Montessori Method when I was a student at Northern Arizona University. After completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and French, I moved to Phoenix and completed my Montessori Certification. Since 2008 I have grown as a teacher, but nothing has made me more understanding and patient than becoming a mother. My girls, Bria and Autumn, are also students at Desert Garden Montessori, and I am a better teacher because of them.
Enthusiasm for learning and maintaining a productive and joyful environment is important. I guide our class to follow our five classroom rules to make our learning environment a fun and safe place to learn. In Classroom 1 we strive to be safe, kind, respectful, responsible, and treat others how we want to be treated. These values go beyond the classroom and are the foundation our children need to be successful and kind adults. We will continue to discuss this philosophy throughout the course of the year.
We are asking that each child have a labelled water bottle that stays at school. We will sanitize these bottles every day and fill them each morning. We ask that children refrain from bringing items to and from school. Because of this the children will share items they work on in class rather than items from home for Show-and-Tell. The children are also asked to bring a framed picture of their family to keep in the classroom so we can keep our loved ones close, even from far away.
Please always reach out to me whenever you feel the need. Open communication is necessary so we can maintain the same objectives in your child’s educational, social, an emotional development. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please also keep an eye on the Classroom 1 page on our website for additional updates on our communication systems.
Thank you for your continued support. I am looking forward to another wonderful year with your incredible child!
