Welcome to Classroom 6!

Welcome CR6 Parents,

My name is Maria Gamez and I am the lead teacher in Classroom 6. My staff and I want to welcome new and returning families to the Desert Garden Montessori community and to our Toddler Classroom 6 environment. Since my start at Desert Garden in 2002, I have had a love for the Toddlers. I worked in Classroom 5 as an assistant before taking my training in 2006. I am happy to be a part of this stage of development because of all the exciting moments your children experience. It is my privilege to experience it with them!

We are very fortunate to be able to open for the new school year with just a few changes. The only difference in our classroom is that we will be staying within our Classroom 6 family and we won’t combine recess or late day with CR5.  There will be an assigned recess time for each class within their respective Classroom families.

Toddlers are in a sensitive period for exploration, sensory experiences, and learning independence. We are so happy to help and guide them in this journey. The classroom is set up to fill their need for movement and independent thinking.

In an effort to maintain the health and safety of our children and staff, each classroom will be considered a “Classroom Family.”  Each Classroom Family will be a small community which consist of the students and teachers/staff assigned to that classroom.

I am thrilled to have the amazing Ms. Braelynn returning as my assistant for this coming year.  If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact one of us. We all are very happy to start the new school year and be with your little ones.

If you would like to connect with me, please email me anytime at mgamez@desertgardenmontessori.org. To best serve your child during the school day, please allow for a 24-hour turnaround time for an email response. Please also keep an eye on the Classroom 6 page on our website for additional updates on our communications systems.

We are very excited to start the new school year and get to know you and your child.

Ms. Maria
